Prices of currants have doubled in Ukraine

Currants, one of the most popular summer berries, are becoming more expensive in Ukraine. The price in 2024 has more than doubled compared to last year. This is reported by EastFruit analysts. It is noted that only 7-8 years ago, currants cost 12 hryvnias per kilogram, and their sale was considered a loss-making business for small plantations for manual harvesting. For the past three or four years, the price has remained within 30-40 hryvnias. But this season, the harvest decreased significantly due to unfavorable weather conditions, including spring frosts. Due to the reduction of the harvest, the price of the berry increased to 70 hryvnias per kilogram.
