Peru: Agro Rural invested more than S/13 million to protect agricultural activities in Cusco

The Rural Agrarian Productive Development Program (Agro Rural) invested more than S/13 million this year in the Cusco region to prevent and deal with inclement weather, such as frost, hail and heavy rains, which affect agricultural activities. This intervention benefited more than 7,000 producers in 14 provinces located more than 3,500 meters above sea level. The intervention allowed the protection of more than 72,000 heads of sheep and alpaca cattle, mainly pregnant females, gestating females and calves, which are the most vulnerable to adverse weather phenomena; through the implementation of 600 sheds with an investment exceeding S/9 million. The livestock protection modules were allocated to the provinces of: Cusco (10 sheds), Acomayo (50 sheds), Anta (30 sheds), Calca (40 sheds), Canas (80 sheds), Canchis (40 sheds), Chumbivilcas (60 sheds), Espinar (80 sheds), Paruro (80 sheds), Paucartambo (40 sheds), Quispicanchi (70 sheds) and Urubamba (20 sheds).
