The District Municipality of Pichari in Cusco, Peru, has distributed 61,000 camu camu seedlings to producers involved in the Tropical Fruits project. The seedlings, which were produced in the municipality's nurseries, are intended for cultivation across approximately 50 hectares at a density of 1,200 seedlings per hectare. The first harvest, expected in two years, is projected to yield 30 tons per hectare annually. The municipality will continue to distribute supplies until they run out, and those interested can find more information by contacting the project manager. The Tropical Fruits project also encourages the production of other tropical fruits such as soursop, passion fruit, and pitahaya.
