Fulfilling the objectives of repopulating the 'lungs' of peasant communities and improving the genetic quality of alpacas, the Regional Government of Cusco began the recovery of 3,677 degraded hectares and delivered 126 Huacaya breed reproductive alpacas, benefiting the producer families of the Ocongate district, Quispicanchi province. Through the project "Improvement of ecosystem services in support of sustainable forest productive development in the Palccamayo micro-basin", the Regional Management of Natural Resources and Environmental Management will install thousands of pine, queuña, qolle, chachacomo, and other trees to regreen the peaks of Ocongate.
