China: Dalian Port-South America West route officially opened, the voyage shortened to 25 days

On January 2, the Wanhaiyi Spring Cruiser docked at the Dalian Port Container Terminal. This marked the official launch of Liaoning Port Group's "Dalian Port-South America West" container ocean route, filling the gap in direct shipping services from Dalian Port to South America. The first ship, Wanhaiyi Spring Cruiser, departed from the Port of Guayaquil in Ecuador on December 8, 2023, carrying cargo including South American bananas, white shrimps and other cold chain commodities. Wanhai Shipping invested in six 3,000TEU ships for this route. Container ships operate on a weekly basis and reach major ports in western South America such as Mexico, Panama, Colombia, and Ecuador. According to reports, in the past, goods exported to South America had to be transited through Busan Port in South Korea.
