Denmark is taking preventive measures to curb the spread of African swine fever, following the disease's detection among pigs in Germany, with authorities urging hunters, truck drivers, and farmers to take extra hygiene precautions and avoid importing meat products. The disease poses a significant risk to Denmark's pork industry, which exports nearly 90% of its production, making it a crucial part of the country's agricultural and total exports. The disease, which affects pigs but not humans, has previously spread across several European countries. In 2019, Denmark built a fence along its German border to prevent wild boars from bringing the disease. Germany has reported over 2,000 infected wild boars and a few cases in domestic pigs.
