Poultry prices in the local market have seen a slight decrease due to the recent release of feed ingredients, with the price of white chicken ranging from 71 to 73 pounds per kilo on the farm and 78 pounds per kilo for consumers. Red chicken (Sasso) costs about 110 pounds per kilo on the farm and 115 pounds per kilo for consumers. The high prices of white poultry in Egypt are attributed to the high costs of feed and production requirements globally due to the Russian-Ukrainian war and high shipping and transportation costs. Egypt produces about 1.4 billion birds annually, achieving self-sufficiency by about 100%, and the local poultry industry employs nearly 3 million workers with investments reaching about 100 billion pounds.
