Delays at ports increase losses for Brazilian coffee

The volume of coffee that could not be shipped in September reached 939.4 thousand bags, equivalent to 2,848 containers, according to data from the Brazilian Coffee Exporters' Council (Cecafé). The arrival of the new crop coffee coincided with ship delays and cargo roll-overs due to the exhaustion of port infrastructure, which increased the extra expenses of the exporters. During this period, companies associated with Cecafé incurred a loss of R$ 8.991 million due to additional storage, pre-stacking, and detentions due to the inability to ship. According to the entity, this was the third highest financial impact ever recorded, only behind those recorded in November and December of 2024.
