Australia has been a major supplier of red meat to the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region for decades, with beef being the fastest growing export among all red meat and livestock categories in the last 10 years. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Saudi Arabia have been among Australia’s top 20 most valuable beef export markets for the past eight years. Due to accelerated economic growth, the MENA region has seen a rise in demand for higher quality grades and cuts of beef, which Australia has met with its traceability, high quality, and sustainability credentials. As a result, the average unit price of Australian beef exported to MENA has increased more rapidly than the average to all markets, and MENA is expected to continue to be a valuable and growing market for Australian beef.
