The Chairman of the Turkey Union of Chambers of Agriculture (TZOB), Shams Bayraktar, highlighted the resilience of the agricultural sector during a challenging year due to the economic impact of the coronavirus pandemic. Despite facing limited support, the sector managed to maintain its importance in employment and contribute to food production. Bayraktar reported a general price increase in the market for many products, with oranges seeing the highest price rise at 79.39%. He called for increased support to offset input costs and improve the financial stability of farmers, including debt restructuring and fair pricing for agricultural products.
