In spite of the COVID-19 pandemic, Peru's agricultural sector has seen a 2.0% increase in growth from January to May of this year, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation (Minagri). This growth is attributed to a 2.4% rise in agricultural subsectors, such as pýprika, paddy rice, blueberry, and corn amilýceo, as well as a 1.3% increase in livestock, mainly chicken, raw cow's milk, chicken eggs, and pig. The month of May alone saw a 1.6% growth in the sector, with significant increases in the production of pecan, paddy rice, hard yellow corn, onion, corn starch, sugar cane for sugar, asparagus, and cocoa. This growth is largely due to increased sowings and harvest adjustments caused by the pandemic.
