(Voice=Yonhap News) Reporter Yoon Woo-yong = On the 4th, the Office of Eumseong County, North Chungcheong Province, announced that H5 avian influenza (AI) antigen was detected in wild bird feces collected from Miho Stream in Daeso-myeon the previous day.
Accordingly, the county has designated a 10km radius around the detection site as a wild waterfowl surveillance area, and is strengthening surveillance and disinfection of poultry farms in the area.
There are 159 farms in this region raising 2.25 million poultry.
If confirmed as highly pathogenic, farms within the surveillance area will be subject to a 21-day movement restriction.
The county plans to provide an additional 2,760 packs of disinfectant to poultry farms for barrier disinfection.
A county official urged poultry farms and others to comply with prevention guidelines, including daily disinfection of the inside and outside of poultry houses, prohibiting entry to the river, prohibiting gatherings, disinfecting livestock vehicles, and thoroughly managing entry and exit records.
