A liter of Brazilian honey can cost up to R$800

Stingless bee honey, rarer and richer in medicinal properties than traditional honey, can cost up to R$800 per liter. This exclusivity makes it a coveted product for consumers looking for flavor, health and well-being. Around 300 species of stingless bees are native to Brazil, which represents practically half of the species already identified in the world. And meliponiculture, which is the rational creation of these bees, also called native or indigenous, is expanding. In Matozinhos, Metropolitan Region of Belo Horizonte, Meliponário Santa Rosa breeds and sells more than 20 species. The enterprise receives an incentive from the Technical Assistance and Rural Extension Company of Minas Gerais (Emater-MG) to expand its business, through the development of a project to access rural credit.
