The COVID-19 pandemic is causing significant challenges for seafood farmers in Vietnam, both in terms of reduced consumption leading to financial losses and increased costs, as well as risks of supply shortages due to reduced stocking. Aquaculture farmers are facing decreased selling prices and increased aqua feed prices, leading to reduced production and potential supply disruptions. The situation is further complicated by restrictions on travel and distribution, and the perishable nature of seafood. The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development is working with local organizations to support farmers and promote consumption of their products, while also implementing fixed or mobile sales points to ensure distribution.
