Directorate General of Customs and Excise: No Rice and Corn Imports, Import Duty Drops Drastically by 5.1 Percent

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) recorded positive achievements throughout 2025. The government's food self-sufficiency policy has successfully strengthened national food security and reduced imports, while also boosting the country's income from exports. The report from the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC) shows that national import duties until August 2025 amounted to Rp 32.2 trillion, down 5.1 percent compared to the same period last year. This decline occurred due to the cessation of imports of rice, consumer sugar, and feed corn, following the increase in domestic production.
