There are different classifications for silos, based on their shape, construction material, discharge system, storage conditions, and specific applications, each designed to best meet operational and safety needs. By shape and structure, vertical silos (cylindrical) stand out, which are the most common due to occupying less area and allowing gravity discharge, being ideal for grains and cement. Horizontal silos, in turn, are more used for large volumes. Flat-bottom silos require mechanical systems for flow, while cone-bottom silos favor natural discharge due to their inclination, ideal for dry grains and pellets.
