The Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Agricultural Technology Institute (Director Go Sang-hwan) announced that it is promoting research to enhance the competitiveness of domestically developed gold kiwi varieties 'Sweet Gold' and 'Gam Hwang'. According to the provincial agricultural technology institute, Jeju is the largest kiwi production area in the country, with a cultivation area of 401 hectares as of 2023, accounting for 30% of the national total, and production volume of 12,692 tons, ranking first nationwide. In particular, the cultivation area of 'Sweet Gold' and 'Gam Hwang' in the Jeju region increased from 58.8 hectares in 2022 to 68.8 hectares in 2023.
