BASF's Agriculture Solutions division is initiating pilot projects in Colombia, Ecuador, and Mexico to establish networks among farmers, drone service providers, and agricultural consultants. Drones, which have been utilized in various sectors for over two decades, are gaining traction in agriculture, with over 35% of Peruvian farmers already using them. These drones offer substantial benefits, such as efficient resource use, reduced crop protection application times, and cost savings, including up to 90% water savings and being 50 times faster than manual methods. However, Peru lacks a clear legal framework for agricultural drone use. BASF plans to replicate successful projects from other countries to encourage drone adoption in Peru.
