Morocco has emerged as a significant supplier of citrus fruits, particularly mandarins, to the Northern Hemisphere, especially the United States, from December to June. The country's mandarin exports to the U.S. have seen a substantial increase, rising from 53 to 80 million pounds, making it the third-largest fruit exporter to the U.S. with a 15% quota. Despite ongoing drought conditions, the volume and quality of these fruits are not significantly affected, although the supply may shift towards smaller-caliber fruits. Salix Fruit, a fruit trading company, has been importing Moroccan mandarins and oranges for four years, navigating logistical routes and ensuring compliance with the FDA's Foreign Supplier Verification Program for food safety and regulatory standards.
