Sumy region and most Ukrainian regions this season are facing excessive rainfall during the harvesting of sunflower and corn. As Igor Gurzhiy, head of the agro-expertise department at Crédit Agricole Bank, explained during the "AgroExpedition 2025. Elevators," many agricultural enterprises are receiving corn with a moisture content of over 35%. "Producers who have their own grain dryers on alternative energy sources are not stopping and are harvesting the crop," he explains. Part of those agricultural enterprises that do not have dryers, Igor Gurzhiy says, have temporarily halted operations for two reasons: Farmers are counting on frosts of at least -5 °C, which can naturally cool the grain and reduce drying costs.
