Early oranges from the Beni Mellal region in Morocco will enter the market in November, slightly delayed due to unfavorable weather conditions this summer, reports EastFruit.
According to Abdellatif Elkarimi, director of RK Citrus, early oranges, along with late varieties, represent the most profitable commercial window for export.
The producer reports an improvement in production this season despite the challenging weather conditions. He explains: "The problem of insufficient rainfall is the main obstacle to production and has led to a significant reduction in planting areas over the past few years. This season we are also suffering from summer heat. Against the backdrop of abnormal heat, oranges grow better than other citrus fruits, and we can expect an increase in production volumes compared to the previous season in the Beni Mellal region."
