Representatives from Ecuador, Seychelles, and Central American countries have requested more investment from Spanish tuna companies to support local economic development and sustainable fishing. This appeal was made during the VI National Tuna Congress, emphasizing the importance of business cooperation and Spanish investment for job creation and economic benefits. The Spanish fleet, engaging in tuna fishing in three major oceans, contributes significantly to the economy and employment, with tuna accounting for a substantial portion of Spain's maritime catches. The countries are hoping to strengthen these relationships further through EU agreements, aiming to address the challenges of illegal fishing and sustainability in the Indian Ocean.
