Ecuador is currently competing with countries such as Thailand and China in the tuna market. In 2025, Ecuador's exports of canned fish and tuna amounted to $1.733 billion, an increase of $181 million compared to the same period in 2024. The export volume reached 357,213 tons, an increase of 34,860 tons compared to 2024. Ecuador believes that if the European Union lifts the "yellow card" warning for Ecuador's fisheries, its fishery product exports are expected to grow further.
