Ecuador, the world's leading banana exporter, has experienced a revenue drop in banana shipments, with accumulated exports to October totaling 315.70 million boxes, marking a 7.50% decrease of 23.69 million boxes. The decline is largely attributed to the performance of the European Union and Russia, the two main markets, which imported 26.32% and 22.97% of the total respectively. The war between Ukraine and Russia, cooler conditions in Ecuador reducing production, a strike in the production areas, and inflation in destination markets have contributed to the reduction in exports.
