The EEC 2026 pointed out that without a swift biomethane law and the efficient implementation of new connection regulations, Poland will lag behind Europe. Poland has the potential of 4–8 billion cubic meters of biomethane annually, but profitability will be decided by certificates and integration with EU systems. Agriculture and the food industry can supply substrates, yet projects are hampered by social protests and lengthy investment procedures. One of the most important topics was the new network law. The industry evaluates it positively, as it gives cogeneration biogas plants a guarantee of energy consumption for at least 14 hours a day and places them at the end of the disconnection queue.
