In May 2021, Ukraine set record indicators in foreign trade for the export of cucumbers and beets, and the import of frozen garden strawberries, watermelons, and garlic. The country also experienced a decrease in the import of lemons and the export of prunes. The increase in cucumber exports is due to a significant drop in imports and a supply surge following a warm May after a cold April. Beet exports and imports reached the highest volumes for the 2020/2021 season, with most exports going to Belarus. Garlic imports saw a change in source countries, with Iran overtaking China. Additionally, Ukraine imported a large quantity of watermelons and cherries from various countries, indicating a growing demand for fresh fruits.
