In September, Russia experienced significant fluctuations in the import and export of vegetables and fruits, with record levels of potato imports and a decline in watermelon and persimmon imports. The high demand for imported potatoes, along with a decrease in domestic production and a sharp price increase, led to record purchases of 10 thousand tons, mainly from Belarus and Georgia. On the other hand, watermelon imports fell by over half due to a late start to the melon season and quality issues, with only 1,000 tons imported from Kazakhstan. While the persimmon import volume was lower than the previous year, lemon imports almost reached a record high of 26 thousand tons, primarily from Turkey.
