Egypt becomes a new player in the blueberry market

Egypt is actively developing its blueberry industry, leveraging fertile lands, favorable climatic conditions, and affordable labor. The primary export destination currently remains the United Kingdom, although there are also shipments to the Netherlands, France, and Malaysia. This is reported by Blueberry Consulting. According to the latest data, exports to the United Kingdom in 2024 reached 324 tons, and by the 14th week of 2025, shipments had increased by 247%, to 149 tons. Several international companies, including Spanish and Dutch firms, are already developing projects with their own genetics in the country. One such enterprise has launched an experimental field of 50 hectares near Alexandria with plans to scale up to commercial plantings if successful. Most of the current projects do not exceed 8 hectares and are concentrated in the provinces of Cairo and Alexandria.
