Egypt-African Union (AU) Trade Rises to $9.8 Billion in 2024
The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) announced that trade between Egypt and African Union (AU) member countries reached $9.8 billion in 2024, a 6.5% increase from $9.2 billion in 2023.
In 2024, Egypt's exports to AU member countries increased to $7.7 billion, a 4.7% rise from the previous year.
- The primary export destinations were Libya, Morocco, Algeria, Sudan, and Tunisia.
- Key export products include cement, gypsum, edible salt, plastic products, flour products, electrical machinery and equipment, steel products, and stone and cement-based materials.
Egypt's imports from AU member countries rose to $2.1 billion in 2024, a 14.5% increase from the previous year.
- The main import sources were the Democratic Republic of Congo, Sudan, Kenya, Nigeria, and South Africa.
- Major imported goods include copper, coffee and tea, fuel and mineral oils, livestock, automobiles and tractors, cotton, and steel.
