Egypt has experienced a significant surge in its date exports to Turkey, with a 22-fold increase over the past five seasons, reaching 3.9 thousand tons. This has propelled Egypt to the sixth position among date suppliers to the Turkish market, which is the world's fourth largest importer of dates. The country's rapid growth is contributing to a notable increase in overall date imports to Turkey, which has seen a nearly 60% rise since the 2019/20 season, peaking around the winter-spring period before Ramadan. While Iran and Saudi Arabia continue to dominate the market, countries like Tunisia, Iraq, and Palestine, including Egypt, are gaining ground with substantial growth in their exports. Egypt's rapid expansion in the date export market is positioning it as a significant player globally, with potential implications for the international date market dynamics.
