Egypt is the leading exporter of oranges to Southeast Asia, with nearly 25,000 tons exported in the first five months of the current season, marking the largest volume in the past five years. The country's exports are timed to avoid direct competition with South Africa, the second-largest supplier. Together, South Africa and Egypt provide two-thirds of the orange supplies in Southeast Asia, competing mainly with China and to a lesser extent, the United States and Spain. However, imports from the United States have been declining, while Chinese exports have more than doubled.
