Egypt, the new Eldorado of clementines on the world market

This season, Egypt seems set to establish itself as a reference of choice on the global clementine market. Faced with climate upheavals and the difficulties encountered by producers in other countries, Egyptian clementines are arriving at the right time with consistent quality and a growing reputation. Ibrahim Gadallah, Director of Development at JanaFresh, states it bluntly: “This year, Egypt is the place to go to find quality clementines”. While climate change is seriously disrupting citrus production around the world, Egypt has managed to hold its own this year. Spanish and Moroccan producers, the main competitors in the clementine segment, are suffering major setbacks due to flooding and drought affecting their growing regions.
