For the MY 2022/23, FAS Cairo has updated its forecast, predicting a significant increase of nearly 20 percent in Egypt's orange production to 3.6 MMT, up from the previous estimate of 3.0 MMT. This surge is primarily due to favorable weather conditions and temperatures during the flowering season, leading to enhanced fruit set and production. Egypt's orange production is predominantly contributed by commercial farms located on desert land reclaimed over the past three decades, rather than the Nile Valley. These farms employ sustainable practices like integrated pest and disease management for efficient pest control and minimal environmental impact.
