In 2020, despite the COVID-19 pandemic's impact on transport and trade, Egypt's agricultural exports surpassed 5 million tons, generating $2.1 billion (EGP33 billion) according to the country's minister of agriculture. The country opened 11 new markets and signed a protocol to export mangoes to the US, contributing to the support of foreign exchange reserves. The main exports included citrus fruits, potatoes, onions, and various other produce. The volume of exports in 2021 will depend on supply and demand, with efforts being made to meet the requirements of importing countries.
