Brazil: Summer crop harvests are approaching the end, according to Emater/RS

The harvest of the corn and soy crops is on its way to the final stretch in the state. The soybean harvest reached 97% of the cultivated area, while that of corn reached 89%, according to the Conjunctural Newsletter produced and published this Thursday (25/05) by Emater/RS-Ascar. In soybean fields where the harvest has already ended, producers are planning management and soil correction strategies. Despite the little significant progress in the period, the implementation of winter cover crops has also become a matter of great importance, due to the need to increase dry matter to improve the physical characteristics of the soil, because in crops with adequate soil management , soybean yields were higher compared to the others, even in the face of water deficit. Meanwhile, small corn producers placed orders for seeds from the Troca-Troca Program.
