Based on this reality, agents of the tomato production chain have sought help from research agencies to address this problem. Researchers, such as virologist Alice Nagata - and her team - from Embrapa Hortaliças, have been visiting crops and receiving leaf samples from tomato plants with virus symptoms with increasing frequency in recent years.
