In June, UK mutton exports increased by 2.9% compared to the same month last year, reaching 750 tons. Despite this, the first half of 2020 saw a 13.3% decrease in exports compared to the same period in 2019, totaling 38,570 tons, due to supply disruptions from the coronary crises. The cost of lamb has risen, with total exports for the first half of the year coming in at 191.1 million pounds. Despite these challenges, the industry is optimistic about the rest of the year due to the resumption of sales and increasing prices. There has also been growing interest in Welsh mutton from non-EU countries, particularly the Middle East.
