Ahead of the large-scale protest by agricultural producers on the streets of Brussels tomorrow, Copa-Cogeca, supported by the non-profit organizations in the agriculture and food industry sector, calls on EU legislators to reject the agreement with Mercosur. Following yesterday's vote in the European Parliament on the proposed protective regulation and acknowledging the efforts of Members of the European Parliament to improve this implementing legislation and maintain democratic control by listening to the concerns of agricultural producers and operators in the agricultural products sector across the Union, it must be emphasized that this regulation cannot correct the deep structural imbalances laid down in the agreement, nor can it provide truly effective protection for the sensitive agricultural sectors.
