Brazil: Espírito Santo leads national black pepper production with sustained growth

Projections for 2023 indicate growth of 2.14%, reaching an estimated production of 78,178 tons, surpassing the record of 76,533 tons recorded in the previous year. The Gross Value of Black Pepper Production in 2022 reached R$976.9 million, representing 4% of the Gross Value of Agricultural Production in Espírito Santo (VBPA). More than half of the national production of this spice originates in Espírito Santo, which maintains a significant advantage of 34.4 thousand tons over the second largest producer, the State of Pará. Average productivity in Espírito Santo reaches 3.9 tons per hectare, exceeding the national average of 3.1 tons per hectare.
