During the 2021-2022 export-import campaign, the European Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF) noted 658 instances of pesticide residue excess in fruits and vegetables imported to the EU or from other EU countries. Turkey received the majority of these warnings, followed by Egypt, India, Uganda, China, Ecuador, Kenya, and Iran. The most common vehicle of this violation was Bulgarian pepper. Countries like Spain and the Netherlands also reported instances of excess pesticides in their export products.
