The European Commission has proposed a ban on the distribution of sugar sachets in restaurants and cafes across the EU. The proposal aims to ban disposable packaging, including sachets, tubes, trays, and boxes, for the entire hospitality sector. If the proposal is approved by the Council of the European Union and the European Parliament, it will become a mandatory requirement in all 27 EU member countries. The ban will apply to all disposable packaging used for individual portions of condiments, coffee creamers, and sugar, except for packaging supplied with food ready for delivery or immediate consumption.
