The European Union (EU) saw a 1.4% increase in agri-food exports in 2020, reaching 184.3 billion euros, despite a 0.5% rise in imports, totaling 122.2 billion euros. The trade surplus for the year increased by 3% to 62.1 billion euros. The main destinations for EU food exports were China, Switzerland, the Middle East, and North Africa. However, exports to the United States, Turkey, and Singapore saw a decrease in volume. The European Commission's report also highlighted an increase in sales to the United Kingdom and Canada, while noting a decrease in export values for various products including spirits and liqueurs, wine, hides, raw hides, and cotton.
