European wine industries ask for urgent solutions to the crisis in the wine sector

The Association of European Wine Industries (AIVE) has once again warned about the current situation in the wine sector, proposing a series of urgent solutions to put an end to a situation that its president, Lorenzo Delgado, describes as "unsustainable". Among the solutions, they demand the urgent cessation of the manufacture of spirits and vinegars based on non-wine alcohols, replacing them with wine alcohol from the red wines in stock, with higher food quality and less environmental pollution. In addition, they ask that all sectors comply with the Food Chain Law, including cooperatives, "thus being able to settle above production costs and eliminating current unfair competition, and achieving better profitability for their members." They also require promotional actions for the consumption of grape juice, particularly red juice, due to the great nutritional contribution of red fruits and because it is a drink without added sugar.
