Expanding list of winter crops is good news for availability of Dutch vegetables

On 20 April, Minister of Agriculture Piet Adema wrote to the House of Representatives to indicate which vegetables may still be grown on the land this autumn by means of a list of 'winter crops'. The Association of the Dutch Fruit and Vegetable Processing Industry (VIGEF), Stichting Teelt Overleg Groenten (TOG) and GroentenFruit Huis are satisfied with the expansion of the winter crop lists, which they have advocated over the past six months. Together, the organizations represent the chains of growers, traders, cutters and processors of the field vegetable sector in the Netherlands. This concerns approximately 1500 growers (via growers' associations) and the majority of vegetable processors in the Netherlands. TOG represents an area of approximately 11,000 ha.
