Bread in Ukraine is getting more expensive, as the cost is influenced not only by harvests but also by logistics and electricity.

Prices for the main social product – bread – continue to rise, and shoppers in stores are already noticing "biting" price tags. This is reported by Ukrinform. Bread, as one of the basic elements in the consumer basket of Ukrainians, continues to rise in price. This is happening even despite stable harvests, which traditionally fully meet the demand on the domestic market. According to the State Statistics Service, since the beginning of the year, prices for wheat bread from the highest grade flour have risen by almost 13%, from the first grade flour by 9%, and rye bread by 6.4%. If compared with August 2024, the overall increase over the last 12 months has been noticeable – it amounted to 20 – 23%. The National Scientific Center "Institute of Agrarian Economics" calculated that if the average daily consumption of bread per person is about 200–250 g, then the average monthly household spending on bread has increased from 225.7 UAH to 273.4 UAH, which is 21% more than in 2024.
