The head of the Center, Oleg Knyazkov, has announced plans to increase red fish production to 250 thousand tons by 2030, with 90% of the production for the Russian market being domestic. This is a result of the construction of new and reconstructed enterprises, increased self-sufficiency in fry and feed, and a shift towards domestic supplies. In 2023, the salmon fish market in Russia grew to 220.5 thousand tons, with imports making up less than a third of the production. The share of salmon in total aquaculture production increased to 40% in 2023 and is projected to increase to 42% in 2030. The government plans to reach 80% self-sufficiency for fish seed material and 95% self-sufficiency for feed by 2030, with significant investments in the production of salmon, trout, tilapia, and other valuable fish species.
