In July, Norwegian seafood exports experienced a 21% increase compared to the same period last year, reaching a value of NOK 9.5 billion, with July being the best month on record for Norwegian seafood exports. This growth is attributed to several factors, including the relaxation of pandemic restrictions and the sustainability of the industry. Specifically, there was significant growth in salmon exports, with a 10% increase in volume and a 24% increase in value, making it the strongest July on record for salmon exports. Additionally, there was a notable increase in the exports of snow crab and king crab, with snow crab experiencing an 111% increase in value and becoming the strongest export month on record. Other seafood products like trout, fresh cod, clip fish, salt fish, stockfish, herring, and mackerel also saw growth in exports. The growth in the shellfish category in July was the highest on record, with values nearing NOK 406 million, driven by increased demand for Norwegian shellfish in Europe, Asia, and North America.
