Export demand for barley in Ukraine remains low

In Ukraine, export demand prices for feed barley remain at a stable level of 10,100-10,150 UAH/t or 210-215 $/t with delivery to Black Sea ports, so the prices of export offers from traders are 228-230 $/t FOB, which, with delivery costs to Turkey at 20 $/t, makes Ukrainian barley uncompetitive in the Black Sea region. Therefore, we should not expect further growth in demand prices for barley in the near future. The increase in demand prices for feed corn and wheat to 9700-9800 UAH/t with delivery to the port provides support to barley prices and keeps them from declining. Ukraine exported 208 thousand tons of barley in September (205 thousand tons in September 2024), and in total in the season (as of September 29) – 799 thousand tons, which is 65% lower than the corresponding figure last year (1.32 million tons).
