The Ministry of Agriculture of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara in Georgia anticipates that the citrus fruit export for the 2022-23 season will be between 30-35 thousand tons, a decrease from the previous season due to the effects of a dry August. The primary markets for export will be Russia, Ukraine, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and various Eastern European countries. Efforts are being made to find alternative markets as the situation in Ukraine may affect exports. A citrus coordinating headquarters has been established in Adjara to oversee export promotion and quality control. The quality of the citrus fruits, particularly tangerines, is expected to be high despite the lower yield compared to the previous season.
