Analysts noted that increased demand from importers and bad weather in the ports supported export prices for Russian wheat last week, countering forecasts of a strong new crop. The price for Russian wheat with a protein content of 12.5% for FOB (free on board) delivery in March was $231 per metric ton at the end of last week, matching the previous week's figure, reported Dmitry Rylko, head of the consulting company IKAR. Sovecon estimated the price for the same grade of Russian wheat at $230-233 per ton FOB, compared to $229-231 at the end of the previous week. IKAR's first export estimate for February is 3.0-3.3 million tons. Rylko noted that the freezing of the Sea of Azov and storms in the Black Sea continue to seriously limit supplies.
